Titsey Brewery

Sibley Grove transformed a disused agricultural barn into a sustainable brewery and taproom, blending heritage, landscape, and open-plan design with energy-efficient systems and responsibly sourced materials.

Sibley Grove successfully completed the design and redevelopment of Clarks Lane Farm for the Titsey Brewing Co in Westerham, Kent. This project revitalised a dormant agricultural site, transforming it into a thriving commercial business and social hub.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the design responds thoughtfully to the landscape through careful consideration of materials, proportions, and layout. The original asbestos-clad barn was preserved and re-clad in FSC-certified larch, treated to last up to 100 years, providing a sustainable upgrade that adhered to planning constraints. The design emphasises openness and transparency, placing the brewing process at the centre of the customer experience.

Taprooms are product-led environments, making it essential to connect guests and customers with the production and brewing processes, which is why we adopted an open-plan approach. Sustainability guided every decision throughout the project. We used responsibly sourced materials, recyclable Mosa tiles, VOC-free Graphenstone paint, and refurbished furniture and lighting. Significant infrastructure upgrades were also made, including a substation, a freshwater borehole and a bespoke drainage system to manage complex waste streams. Additionally, solar PV and EV charging stations were incorporated into the design.
