Kaust Hotel

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a $20bn university development set outside the city of Jeddah on the western coastline of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sibley Grove was invited by Olayan Group to lead the interior design and space planning for a new 22,000 square metre business hotel and conference centre at the heart of the KAUST site.

The architectural scheme for the KAUST provides a cavernous and generously proportioned space. We approached the interior design from a human scale, celebrating the seven-metre ceiling heights, but creating warmth and intimacy through the introduction of lighting rafts, screens and partitioning. Our design included 280 guest rooms and suites, a multi-functional hotel lobby, conference centre, business centre, meeting rooms, gym, beauty salon, restaurants, coffee shop and roof terrace bar.
