RESELFRIDGES
Selfridges is a world-famous department store with four sites across the UK. In each of these sites, dedicated RESELFRIDGES spaces offer a curated selection of pre-owned luxury accessories. Selfridges approached us to redesign the RESELFRIDGES spaces in their London, Birmingham and Manchester stores. Inspired by our Design for Disassembly process, they wanted the new design to encapsulate the ethos of the RESELFRIDGES initiative - improving sustainability by minimising wasteful practices - while still reflecting the high-end luxury nature of the products on offer.
Following our Design for Disassembly principles, we created a series of high quality retail fixtures and fittings that are purposely made to be easily repurposed, refreshed and, eventually, recycled. All fixings are mechanical, with no glue and few screws, allowing the cladding materials to be easily swapped out for a fresh look. The cladding materials themselves are either closed loop (Cradle to Cradle certified) or made from recycled content. We also re-clad some existing features within each of the spaces. The resulting designs fit the high-end luxury aesthetic of a Selfridges store, while ensuring as little material is wasted as possible, both now and in the future.
